Brian P. Miller

Brian is a native of northwestern North Carolina and graduated from Gardner-Webb University (Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies, 1992) and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity and Christian Education, 1995). Starting in 1989 he served as Youth Minister with churches in North Carolina and Kentucky and served in summer ministry positions in Washington state and Montana. From August 15, 1999 through December 31, 2011 he served at First Baptist Church of Bristol, Virginia as Minister of Education and Youth and finally as Associate Pastor. From March of 2012 through October of 2013, Brian completed a marriage and family therapy internship and six units of Clinical Pastoral Education at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center (JHQ VAMC). In January of 2014, Brian went back to JHQ VAMC to serve as a staff chaplain in inpatient psychiatry and outpatient pastoral and relational counseling. Brian finished his Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling at Louisville Presbyterian Seminary in May of 2016 and is working toward a Tennessee license in Marital and Family Therapy.

Brian served as the start-up pastor of Common Ground Fellowship and since moving to full-time staff chaplain status at JHQ VAMC has been assisting with worship leadership and speaking.

Brian’s lovely wife is Holly, a certified and licensed optician and native of Louisville, Kentucky. Together, they have two teenage boys, Brent and Brandon, and their faithful Cocker Spaniel, Callie Sue. The Miller family loves anything they can do in the beautiful outdoors of our Blue Ridge region. They love biking, hiking, camping, fishing, etc.
